BETAR THE principles OF BETAR

UNSWERVING SUPPORT FOR THE STATE OF ISRAEL Jews in Diaspora must support the people and State of Israel in every situation and condition, at all times, everywhere; we honor all decisions of the Government of Israel; our best way of changing or modifying those politics is to make Aiiyah as Israeli citizens.

LOVE OF THE LAND OF ISRAEL The Land of Israel is the homeland of the Jewish People, and the fount of our existence; we stand for the exclusive right of the Jewish Nation over the Land of Israel and equality of personal rights for all inhabitants of the Land of Israel. Love of the Land of Israel is integral to the values of Jewish Religion, Tradition and Culture.

JEWISH AND ZIONIST PRIDE Betar embodies Jewish and Zionist pride. We strive to inculcate these modern Jewish values in our movement.

ALIYAH The purpose of Zionism is Aliyah to the Land of Israel; As the highest purpose and embodiment of our philosophy, assists and provides education, information and support to all Jews to realize this dream of settling in the Land of Israel.

TRADITIONS AND RELIGION OF ISRAEL We attach great importance to nurturing and maintaining our religion and faith, and opposing assimilation. If assimilation is the successor to the Holocaust, then Betar sees itself as the spiritual successor to the Jewish Partisans and Ghetto Fighters.

HUMAN RIGHTS FOR THE JEWISH PEOPLE We stand for the legitimate human and national rights of the Jewish People, and work to ensure that all Jewish are endowed with these same basic rights which accrue to all of Mankind, including the right of entry to and habitation an all places as Jews. We regard the introduction of human rights into the Middle East provided by the example of Zionism and the State of Israel as the finest creation of our National laboratory, and see Israel as "a light unto the nations."

HADAR & TAGAR Hadar (Magesty, princeliness) involves both respect for oneself and respect for oneself and respect for others. It looks upon every man as a king, but amongst kings subject to a code of nobleness. Tagar - the fight for justice, to say the truth not to keep quiet, to express the belief, not to be shy of it, to achieve the goals without any hesitations.

A NOBLE, CHIVALROUS AND PROUD PEOPLE We believe that the younger Jewish generations should be educated according to these qualities: the desire to know and learn about their People, to identify with their People and to tie their personal fate to the destiny of the Jewish people, with malice towards none and justice for all.

OVERCOMING THE GAP BETWEEN ISRAEL AND DIASPORA It is an etablished sociological fact that the cultural gulf widens between the current generation of young Israeli Jews and their Jewish cousins worldwide. Betar seeks to explain the tendencies and aspirations of each group to the other, to explain their areas of contact, to unite their striving in a common purpose to meet the challenge of the continued flowering of Jewish life and culture in the modern world.

JEWISH COMMUNAL UNITY Jewish Communities often suffer bitter internal divisions; Betar carries the banner of Jewish Unity; we seek the blessing of the consensus which allows mutual support and a wide range of combined effort.
