Top Ten reasons for writing spec's: 10. Its easier than writing code, because it doesn't actually have to work. 9. It makes you feel more important than a mere coder. 8. It's good when you need to cover your ass. 7. It helps keep your file cabinet full, so it won't get requisitioned to someone else. 6. It's something you can read when you retire so you can reminisce about the good ole days. 5. It's great to give to the client to buy time while they review it. 4. It's great to give to your boss so he thinks you know what you're doing. (He'll never actually read it). 3. It's great to give to sales so they can sell it before you write it. 2. If you don't, someone will definitely ask for it later. 1. ISO9000 requires it, so it must be good!
